Skyline R-II Board Meeting

February 2, 2018

The Skyline R-II Board meeting met in regular session on Thursday, January 22, 2018 with all 7 members present.  The consent agenda items consisting of Board minutes, bills and financial statement were presented and approved.

In old business:   A surveyor is scheduled to come out at the end of the month to survey the area around the old bus barn.  The Board approved the purchase of a program called GoGuardian as a computer monitoring/filtering program for the chromebooks. The Board voted to amend the 2017-18 budget to reflect higher tuition costs and bus purchases made earlier in the year.  After a long discussion about the 2018-19 school calendar, the Board voted to adopt a calendar with 162 student days.

In new business:  The board approved to continue with the OSBA insurance consortium.  The board increased the 2018-19 monthly defined contribution from $350 to $375 for employee health insurance and to set the defined contribution funding if health insurance is waived at $0.  The Board discussed the issue of annuities for staff but decided to table the issue for more information.  Summer school dates were set for June 4 – 28, 2018.  Ms. Curtis presented the Board with information from Cody Dalton regarding the Douglas County Hazard Mitigation Plan.  This plan is required by FEMA for local jurisdiction to retain eligibility for FEMA grant and recovery funds.  After reviewing the information the Board agreed to adopt the Douglas County Multi-Jurisdictional Local Hazard Mitigation Resolution.

In the Superintendent’s Report:  Enrollment for January was 81 students in K-8th grade with 12 preschool students.  Skyline has currently missed 7 inclement weather days and 2 flu/sick days that will need to be made up.  The next regular scheduled Board meeting is March 21, 2018.
