February 15, 2017
The Skyline R-II Board meeting met in regular session on Wednesday February 15, 2017 with all 7 members present. The consent agenda items consisting of Board minutes, bills and financial statement were presented and approved.
In old business: The Board approved the purchase of a small 17 passenger bus from Shell Knob School District for $2000. This bus will be used on one of the shorter routes and will be available to be used for ball games and classroom trips. Ms. Curtis presented information from Masterís Transportation regarding some buses they had for sale. The Board discussed to continue to look for small used buses. The Board had previously set aside $3500 to purchase a new lawn mower. After receiving several quotes from different places it was decided to purchase an exmark demo mower from S&H in Mountain Grove for $5500. A proposed 2017-18 school calendar was presented for review. It will be voted on at the March Board meeting. Budget amendments were presented and approved for the 2016-2017 budget with changes due to the purchase of buses and bus repairs.
In new business: The Board discussed an issue with our high school students wanting to attend vo-tech classes but that the Norwood bus leaves before the Skyline bus gets to Norwood. It was decided to wait and see at the beginning of the year if we actually had any students needing a ride before a final decision was made as to how to get students to vo-tech. The Board approved continuing with the OSBA Consortium for health insurance and to continue paying $350 per month per employee towards health insurance. If employee can show they are covered elsewhere they can then use the $350 towards an annuity, dental, vision, or accident insurance for the employee only. Summer school was set for June 6th Ė June 29th, 2017. A motion was made and approved for the English as Second Language, Migrant, and Homeless program evaluations with Ms. Curtis as the coordinator. Several policies and regulations were adopted regarding Federal mandates as well as updating the Wellness policy and regulation.
